1

As in a priest's service to the gods, Invoker, you, Strong One, offer sacrifice and worship, So bring for us today all gods together, bring willingly the willing gods, O Agni.

2

May Agni, radiant herald of the morning, meet to be known, accept our praise with favor. Dear to all life, among mortals immortal, our guest, awake at dawn, is Jātavedas.

3

Whose might the very heavens admire with wonder: bright as the Sun he cloaks himself in light. He who sends forth, Eternal Purifier, shattered even the ancient works of Aśa.

4

You are a singer, Son! Our companion at feasts: Agni at birth prepared his food and path. Therefore grant us strength, O Strength-bestower. Win like a king: foes do not trouble your dwelling.

5

He who eats his firm, hard food swiftly and overtakes the nights as Vāyu rules. May we overcome those who resist your orders, like a steed casting down the fleeing foe.

6

Like Sūrya with his brilliant rays, O Agni, you spread across both worlds with splendor. Dressed in bright colors, he dispels darkness, like Auśija, with clear flame swiftly flying.

7

We have chosen you as most delightful for your beam's glow: hear our great praise, O Agni. The best men praise you as Indra's equal in strength, among gods, like Vāyu in your bounty.

8

Now, Agni, on tranquil paths of wealth come to us for our well-being: save us from sorrow. Grant chiefs and bard this boon. May we live happily, with heroic children, through a hundred winters.
