1

Great Indra, I will praise, in whom all who drink Soma have found their desire; He, wiser than the gods, Heaven, and Earth, created by a master’s hand, to vanquish Vṛtras.

2

He, most heroic, borne by swift horses, no one can defeat him in battle; He, reaching far, most powerful, has cut short the Dasyu’s life with valiant warriors.

3

Victorious in combat, swift as a warhorse, pervading both worlds, showering blessings, Invoke him in war like Bhaga, Father, as if, of hymns, prompt to hear, strength-giver.

4

Supporting Heaven, the high back of the region, his chariot is Vāyu with his team of Vasus. Illuminating the nights, the Sun’s creator, like Dhiṣaṇā, he dispenses strength and wealth.

5

Let us invoke Maghavan, auspicious Indra, the mightiest warrior in the fight where spoils are gathered; The strong one who listens, who aids in battles, who slays the Vṛtras, wins and gathers treasure.
