1

WITH PRAYERS AT DAWN, THE PRIEST INVOCES FIRE, DAWN, THE ASWINI CHILDREN, AND BOTH ASWINIS. With one accord, the gods whose light is bright, desiring to savor our offering, shall surely hear us.

2

You have three powers, O Fire, three posts, three tongues, indeed many, Child of Order! You have three bodies that the gods delight in: guard our hymns with constant care with these.

3

O Fire, you bear many names, immortal, divine, and Jātavedas. And many spells cast by enchanters have they laid in you, Lord of true attendants!

4

Like Bhaga, you lead the godly folk, the one true to law and guardian of the seasons. Ancient, all-knowing, you will carry the singer safely through every hardship.

5

I invoke Savitar, the god, Morning, Bṛhaspati, and the Aswin children, and Fire, Varuṇa and Mitra, the Aśvins, Bhaga, the Vasus, Rudras, and Ādityas.
