1

Agni, wise and skilled, all-knowing, I choose to be your priest at this sacrifice. In your service, the one most skilled will worship; may he grant us strength and wealth.

2

Agni, I raise the oil-laden ladle, bright, with offerings, bringing our sacrifice. With rich gifts, he arranges the worship, chosen by the Gods to attend them.

3

You give us good children with your keen spirit, you who give freely. Most wealthy in men's power. May we sing fair praise of you, Agni, the Good.

4

As people worship you, the God, O Agni, they make you many brilliant in appearance. So bring the Youngest One, the assembly of the Gods, the Heavenly Host that you honor today.

5

When the Gods anoint you as priest and seat you for your task as sacrificer, O Agni, be here our kind protector, and grant us the gift of glory.
