He who gives sustenance, like a family's wealth and guides aright like a wise man’s instruction, Loved like a guest who lies in pleasant lodging—may he, as Priest, prosper his servant’s home.
He who like Savitar the God, true-hearted protects with his might. All acts of strength, True, like brilliance, glorified by many, like joy-bringing breath—let all strive to win him.
He who on earth dwells like a king surrounded by loyal friends, like a God all-sustaining, Like heroes who preside, who sit in safety: like a virtuous wife dear to her husband.
You, such, in secure settlements, O Agni, our men serve ever kindled in each home. On you they lay splendor in abundance: dear to all, bearer of riches.
May your rich worshippers win food, O Agni, and princes gain long life by offering sacrifice. May we capture booty from our foes in battle, presenting to the gods their share for glory.
The sacred cows sent by Heaven, with swollen udders, loudly mooing, Seeking your favor, rivers flow together from afar.
With you, seeking your favor, the Holy Ones gain glory in heaven. They made the Night and Dawn of different colors, and set the black and purple hues together.
May we and those who worship be the mortals you lead to riches, O Agni. You have filled earth and sky and air’s middle region, and follow the whole world like a shadow.
With you, O Agni, may we conquer horses with horses, men with men, heroes with heroes, Lords of wealth transmitted by our ancestors: and may our princes live a hundred winters.
May these our praises, Agni, Orderer, be pleasing to you in your heart and spirit. May we have power to hold your steeds of riches, laying on you the gift of glory sent by the gods.
