1

As we go to the sacrifice, let us sing a hymn to another hymn, Who listens to us even when far away;

2

Who, from ancient times, has kept the people safe in battle, Preserving their homes for the worshipper.

3

Let them say that Agni is born, even he who slays Vṛtra, Who wins wealth in every battle.

4

May he to whom you love to taste the offerings made in his home, And strengthens his sacrifice,

5

May you, Aṅgiras, Son of Strength, be happy in your God, In your offerings, and your sacred grass.

6

You shall bring these Gods to our praise and to taste. These offerings, fair-shining One.

7

When, Agni, you go on your embassy without a sound, Neither horse nor wheels make a noise.

8

With you, unharmed, strong, one after another, he goes forth: Agni, the offerer, steps forward.

9

Splendid strength, heroic, high, Agni, you grant from the Gods, You God, to him who offers gifts.
