1

This Sarasvati river, with its nurturing flow, comes forth as our steadfast defense and impenetrable fortress. Like a chariot, the flood surges on, surpassing all other waters in majesty and might.

2

Pure in her course, from the mountains to the sea, Sarasvati alone listens. Reflecting on wealth and the great world of creatures, she poured for Nahuṣa her milk and richness.

3

She grows friendly among the women, a strong young bull among the Holy Ladies. She gives swift horses to our wealthy princes and decorates their bodies for victory in battle.

4

May this Sarasvati be pleased and listen at this sacrifice, auspicious Lady, When we with reverence, on our knees, beseech her close-knit for wealth, most kind to those she loves.

5

These offerings you have made with devotion; say this, Sarasvati, and accept our praise; And, under your dear protection, may we approach you, as a tree, for shelter.

6

For you, O Blessed Sarasvati, Vasiṣṭha has opened the doors of the sacred Order. May you grow bright and give strength to those who praise you. Preserve us evermore, ye Gods, with blessings.
