1

SAVITAR has sent up a light for all men, eternal, from all the gods. Through the gods' power, that eye was first created. Dawn revealed the universe.

2

I see the paths that gods walk on, peaceful paths prepared by the Vasus. The Dawn's banner has risen eastward; she comes over the rooftops.

3

Great indeed is the number of mornings before the sun rises. Since you, O Dawn, have been seen, returning to your beloved, no longer leaving him.

4

They were the gods' companions at the feast, ancient sages true to Eternal Law. The fathers found the light in darkness and with potent words gave birth to the morning.

5

Together in the same enclosure, they do not compete, united, one with the other. They never break the gods' eternal laws and do not harm each other, in rivalry with Vasus.

6

Praising you, Blessed One, Vasisthas, awake at dawn, we call upon you with praises. Leader of cattle and Queen of all that strengthens, shine, come first to us, high-born Dawn.

7

She brings bounty and the sweet charm of her voice. The rising Dawn is sung by the Vasisthas, Giving us wealth renowned far and wide. May the gods preserve us always with blessings.
