1

THIS SOMA HAS BEEN PREPARED FOR YOU, O INDRA: COME HERE, LORD OF THE BAYS, FOR THIS YOU LOVE. Drink of this fair, well-offered libation: Maghavan, give us wealth when we pray to you.

2

COME QUICKLY TO US WITH YOUR BAY STEEDS, HERO: ACCEPT OUR PRAYER AND OUR DEVOTION. Enjoy yourself at this libation, and listen to our prayers.

3

WHAT SATISFACTION DO OUR HYMNS GIVE YOU? WHEN, MAGHAVAN? NOW LET US SERVE YOU. We weave hymns with love for you: then hear, O INDRA, these invocations.

4

THEY WERE ALSO HUMAN BEINGS WHOSE VOICES YOU LISTENED TO, THOSE EARLIER SAGES. Hence, O INDRA MAGHAVAN, I invoke you: you are our providence, like a father.

5

WE WILL ADDRESS THIS LIBERAL LORD, THIS INDRA, THAT HE MAY GRANT US ABUNDANT RICHES, Bestower of the singer's praise and song. May the gods protect us always with blessings.
