Your ancient duties didn’t need my service before. Where, Indra and Varuṇa, did you once uphold those who loved you?
This man, most devoted, seeks wealth with constant prayers to you. May Indra and Varuṇa, with the Maruts and Heaven and Earth, hear my plea.
O Indra and Varuṇa, let this treasure and wealth be ours, Maruts, with your full strength. Let the Varūtrīs with their shelter aid us, and Bhāratī and Hotrā with the Mornings.
Please accept our offerings, beloved of all gods, Bṛhaspati: Grant wealth to him who brings you gifts.
At sacrifices, sing hymns to the pure Bṛhaspati— I pray for power that none can bend—
The Bull of men, unshakable, who changes form at will, Bṛhaspati, Most Excellent.
Divine and radiant Pūṣan, here’s our new hymn of praise, Chanted by us to you.
Accept this song with favour, be gracious to my earnest thoughts, As a bridegroom to his bride.
May he who sees all living things, see them all at once— May he, may Pūṣan be our helper.
May we achieve that excellent glory of Savitar, the God: So may he inspire our prayers.
With understanding, earnestly, we seek our share of prosperity, From Savitar, the God.
Men and singers worship Savitar with hymns and rituals, Impelled by thoughts.
Soma, who grants success, goes to the divine gathering place, To sit at the Law’s seat.
May Soma give us nourishment for both two-legged and four-legged, For us and our cattle.
May Soma strengthen our life force and conquer our foes, In our assembly, let him sit.
May Mitra and Varuṇa, wise pair, anoint our pasture with oil, With meat, fill the air’s regions.
Rulers far and joyful when adored, you rule through might’s majesty, With pure laws everlastingly.
Praised by Jamadagni’s song, sit in the place of holy Law.
