1

O Indra, in this fierce battle and glorious combat, in this loud din of war, help us to victory, Where in the fight for cows among brave ringed warriors, arrows fly all around and heroes are subdued.

2

At home, reveal to us wealth abundant in food, flowing with milk, O Indra, worthy to be renowned. Śakra, may we be yours, the friendly Conqueror’s: even as we desire, O Vasu, so do you.

3

The godless man, praised greatly, whether he be Dāsa or Ārya, who would fight with us— Easy to conquer for you, with us, these foes: with you may we subdue them in the clash of battle.

4

He whom many and few invoke, who stands near with comfort in the men’s war, Indra, famous Hero, victor in deadly strife, let us bring him here today to favor us.

5

For, Indra, I have heard you called the Capturer, One, Steer! Who never yields, who urges even the stubborn one. Release yourself from Kutsa and come here. How can one like you remain still bound that they may not move?
