With reverence, I honor you, Agni, like a swift horse, Imperial Lord of sacred rituals.
May the far-sighted One of Might, bringer of great happiness, Who showers his gifts like rain, be with us.
Lord of all life, from near and far, protect us from the wicked man, O Agni, evermore.
O Agni, graciously accept this offering to the gods, And this new song of praise.
Grant us the highest strength, the strength beneath, and the strength between.
You give gifts, radiant One; near, like the waves of the Indus, you swiftly reach the worshipper.
The man who protects in battle, Agni, or urges to combat, Is lord of endless strength.
No one may defeat him, mighty One: indeed, his glorious power is unmatched.
May he who lives among all people lead us through battle on war steeds, And with the singers win the spoils.
Help, you who know praises, this work, this hymn to Rudra, the adorable one in every home.
May this our deity, great and boundless, smoke-bannered and brilliantly bright, Urge us to strength and holy thought.
Like some rich lord of men, may he, Agni, the banner of the gods, Be heard by us through our praises.
Glory to the gods, both mighty and lesser, both young and old! If we have power, let us offer worship to the god: no better prayer than this, oh gods, acknowledge.
