1

O Agni worthy of offering, Lord of prosperous powers, clothe yourself, And perform this sacrifice for us.

2

Sit always chosen, as our priest, the youngest, through our hymns, O Agni, through our heavenly word.

3

Here, a father for his son, kin for kin, and friend for his friend, Offer sacrifices as men do.

4

Here may the destroyers of foes sit, Varuṇa, Mitra, Aryaman, Like men, on our sacred grass.

5

O ancient Herald, be glad in this rite and fellowship: Listen well to these songs.

6

Whatever we sacrifice perpetually to God and God, That gift is offered to you.

7

May he be our dear household lord, priest, pleasant and choice-worthy, May we, with bright fires, be dear to him.

8

The gods, honored by brilliant fires, have bestowed precious wealth on us, So, with bright fires, we pray to you.

9

And, O Immortal One, may the praises of mortals belong to us and you alike.

10

With all your fires, O Agni, take pleasure in this sacrifice, And this speech, O Son of Strength.
