O Agni worthy of offering, Lord of prosperous powers, clothe yourself, And perform this sacrifice for us.
Sit always chosen, as our priest, the youngest, through our hymns, O Agni, through our heavenly word.
Here, a father for his son, kin for kin, and friend for his friend, Offer sacrifices as men do.
Here may the destroyers of foes sit, Varuṇa, Mitra, Aryaman, Like men, on our sacred grass.
O ancient Herald, be glad in this rite and fellowship: Listen well to these songs.
Whatever we sacrifice perpetually to God and God, That gift is offered to you.
May he be our dear household lord, priest, pleasant and choice-worthy, May we, with bright fires, be dear to him.
The gods, honored by brilliant fires, have bestowed precious wealth on us, So, with bright fires, we pray to you.
And, O Immortal One, may the praises of mortals belong to us and you alike.
With all your fires, O Agni, take pleasure in this sacrifice, And this speech, O Son of Strength.
