The holy ritual I performed previously is being performed anew: my sweetest song is sung to honor your praise. Here, O Rbhus, is this ocean for all the gods: sit down with Soma offered by the sacred word.
When, seeking your pleasure from afar, you, dear kin, wandered along your path, Children of Sudhanvan, after your long journey, you arrived at Savitar’s generous home.
Savitar granted you immortality because you proclaimed him, who cannot be hidden, And this was the fourfold drinking cup of the Asuras, which until then was one, you made it four.
When they served zealously as priests, though mortal, they gained immortality. The Rbhus, children of Sudhanvan, bright as the sun, in a year’s course became associates with prayers.
The Rbhus, with a rod measured, as if a field, the single sacrificial cup. wide of mouth, Lauded by all who saw, praying for what is best, desiring glorious fame among the immortal gods.
As oil in ladles, we through knowledge will present to the heroes of the firmament our hymn— The Rbhus who approached with this great father’s speed, and rose to heaven’s high sphere to eat the nourishing food.
Rbhu to us is Indra freshest in his might, Rbhu with power and wealth is the giver of rich gifts. Gods, through your favor may we on the happy day quell the attacks of those who do not offer sacrifices.
From a skin, O Rbhus, once you molded a cow, and brought the mother close to her calf once more. Children of Sudhanvan, Heroes, with unmatched skill you made your aged parents youthful again.
With strength, help us where spoils are won, O Indra; join with the Rbhus and give us varied bounty. This prayer of ours may Varuṇa grant, and Mitra, and Aditi and Sindhu, Earth and Heaven.
