1

We've prepared your resting place, so come like a tired horse and sit down. Loosen your swift horses, free your steeds to gallop swiftly both dawn and dusk.

2

These men have come to Indra for help: will he not quickly come to these paths? May the gods quell the anger of the Dāsas, and guide our people to good fortune.

3

He who has only desire as his possession casts foam in the water and sets free his horses. Both Kuyava’s wives, in milk, have bathed them: may they drown in the depths of Śiphā.

4

Those who live beside us have their kinship checked: with ancient streams they flow and rule the hero, Anjasī, Kuliśī, and Virapatnī, delighting them, carry milk on their waters.

5

As soon as the Dasyu’s tracks were found, as one who knows her home, he sought the dwelling. Think now of us, Maghavan, and do not cast us away, as a wastrel does with his treasure.

6

Indra, as such, give us a share of sunlight, of waters, sinlessness, and fame. Do not harm our yet unborn children: our trust is in your mighty Indra-power.

7

Now we, I think, in you have trusted: lead us on, Mighty One, to great wealth. In no unprepared house give us, O Indra invoked by many, food and drink when hungry.

8

Do not slay us, Indra; do not forsake us: do not steal away the joys we love. Do not rend our unborn children, Strong Lord of Bounty! fill our vessels with the life within them.

9

Come to us; they call you Soma-lover: here is the pressed juice. Drink it for joy. Pour it down widely, and, invoked, hear us like a Father.
