That Indra power far away is yours; once the sages held it here. This one is on the earth, the other in the sky, together they meet in battle.
You spread the wide earth and firmly set it, with your thunderbolt you struck the deep and released the waters. Maghavan with your might struck down Ahi, tore Rauhiṇa apart and killed Vyaṁsa.
Armed with your bolt and trusting in your strength, you shattered the forts of the Dāsas. Cast your dart, knowing, Thunderer, at the Dasyu; increase the Arya's might and glory, Indra.
For him who teaches these human races, Maghavan, with a worthy title, Thunderer, coming near to slay the Dasyus, has given himself the name of Son for glory.
See this abundance of wealth he holds, and trust in Indra's heroic strength. He found the cattle, the horses, the plants, the forests, and the waters.
To him the truly strong, whose deeds are many, to him the strong Bull, let us offer Soma. The Hero, watching like a thief in ambush, separates the possessions of the godless.
You did that heroic deed, O Indra, waking with your bolt the sleeping Ahi. In you, the divine Ladies rejoiced, the flying Maruts and all Gods were joyful.
As you have struck Śuṣṇa, Pipru, Vṛtra, and Kuyava, and Śambara's forts, O Indra. May this prayer of ours grant Varuṇa, Mitra, Aditi, and Sindhu, Earth and Heaven.
