1

Soma, you are a splendid Steer, a Steer, O God, with a steely sway: You ordain laws like a Steer.

2

Your strength is like a Steer’s, your wood is strong, you are like a Steer in your drink. You are indeed a Steer, O Steer, you are.

3

You, Indu, as a vigorous horse, have neighed together steeds and kine: Open the doors to wealth for us.

4

From the desire of cows, steeds, and horses, potent Soma drops, Bright and swift, have been poured out.

5

They purify in both hands, made beautiful by holy men, Flowing to the fleecy cloth.

6

These Soma juices will pour forth all treasures for the worshipper From heaven and earth and sky.

7

Your Pavamana streams, Finder of all, have been poured out, Just like Sūrya’s rays of light.

8

Shining from heaven, you flow to every form, Soma, you swell like a sea.

9

Urged on, you send out your voice, O Pavamana; You moved, like Sūrya, to the sieve.

10

Indu, Enlightener, Friend, has been purified by the sages’ hymns: So starts the charioteer’s steed.

11

Your God-delighting wave that flowed to the purifying sieve, Alighting in the home of Law.

12

Flow to our sieve, a joyful draught that intermingles with gods, Indu, to Indra for his drink.

13

Flow onward with a stream for sustenance, made beautiful by wise men: Indu, with shine, approach the milk.

14

While you cleanse, Song-Lover, bring comfort and vigor to the folk, Poured, Tawny One! on milk and curds.

15

Purified for the gods’ feast, go to Indra’s special place, Resplendent, guided by the strong.

16

Accelerated by the hymn, the rapid drops of Soma juice Flow, urged onward, to the lake.

17

Easily have the living drops, made beautiful, approached the lake, Yea, to the place of sacrifice.

18

Circle around, our faithful friend
