Come, Indra, with your horses, come to Kaṇva’s praise.

You were commanded by the bright sky-god, who shines each day!

May the stone draw you as it speaks, the Soma-stone with its ringing voice.

You were commanded by the bright sky-god, who shines each day!

The stones’ edge shakes the Soma here like a wolf on a sheep.

You were commanded by the bright sky-god, who shines each day!

Kaṇvas call you hitherward for aid and to win the spoils.

You were commanded by the bright sky-god, who shines each day!

I set for you, as for the strong, the first draught of the juice.

Come with abundant blessings, come with perfect care to help us.

Come, Lord of deep thoughts, who has infinite wealth and many helpers.

Adorable among gods, the good priest will bring you close.

Like a falcon’s wings, your horses rush in joy to carry you.

Come from the enemy to us, to svaha and the Soma-drink.

Come hither with your chariot ready to hear, take pleasure in our praise.

Lord of well-fed horses, come with well-fed steeds alike in color.

Come hither from the mountains, from the seas of air’s regions.

Disclose to us, Hero, wealth in thousands of cattle and horses.

Bring riches hitherward to us in hundreds, thousands, myriads.

You were commanded by the bright sky-god, who shines each day!

The thousand horses, the mightiest troop, which we and Indra received

From Vasu-ciris as a gift,

Brown as the wind in speed, and bright bay horses fleet-footed,

All resplendent like the suns.

Among Pargvata’s rich gifts, swift steeds whose wheels run quickly,

I seemed to stand amid a wood.
