1

Soma never gladdened Indra unless accompanied by a proper invocation. No juice is pleasing without a proper offering. I compose a hymn that will delight him, fresh and heroic, so that he might hear us.

2

Every time we offer a hymn, Soma gladdens Indra. Pressed juices please him as each verse is sung, When the priests join forces with one voice to call upon him to aid, just as sons invoke their father.

3

He performed these deeds; may he achieve new ones, as the priests declare at their libations. Indra has taken and possessed all castles, like a common husband his wives.

4

That's how they declared him. Indra is famous as the Conqueror, the sole distributor of treasures; His many helpers come one after another. May dear delightful benefits attend us.

5

Thus, to bring help to men, Vasiṣṭha praises Indra, the Hero of the people. Grant us strength and wealth in thousands. Preserve us evermore, ye Gods, with blessings.
