1

Strong, divine Indra, born for heroic deeds, friend to men, do as you will. Saving us even from great sins, Indra, Youthful, visits homes with favor.

2

Indra, waxing great, slays Vṛtra; the Hero aids the singer with his might. He gave Sudās ample space and often grants wealth to those who offer sacrifices.

3

Unchecked soldier, stirring war, undefeated Hero, ever victorious, Indra, the very strong, scattered armies; he slew each foe who dared to fight.

4

You, with your greatness, fill both worlds with might, O Indra, Most Mighty Lord. Lord of Bays, Indra, wielding thunder, is pleased with Soma at the feast.

5

A Bull begot the Bull for battle’s joy, and a strong Mother bore the manly one. He who leads men, their army’s leader, is a strong Hero, bold, and eager for plunder.

6

People do not falter, nor suffer sorrow, who win this God’s terrifying spirit. He who worships Indra with offerings is lord of wealth, born of law and its protector.

7

When the elder helps the younger, the greater comes to the lesser’s aid. Should the Immortal sit aloof, inactive? O Wondrous Indra, bring us wondrous riches.

8

Your dear folk, Indra, who offer sacrifices, are, in chief place, your friends, Thunder-wielder. May we be best content in your favor, sheltered by One who does not harm, but protects us.

9

To you, the mighty hymn has clamored loudly, and the eloquent has beseeched you, Maghavan. Desire of wealth has come upon your singer; help us then, gakra, to our share of riches.

10

Place us by the food you have given, O Indra, us and the wealthy patrons who command us. Let your great power bring good to him who praises you. May the Gods preserve us evermore with blessings.
