1

By your high Law, order is established there where Sūrya's horses run free. Ten hundred stood together: there I saw the most marvelous Deity's one chief glory.

2

This, Mitra-Varuṇa, is your special greatness: floods that stood there were attracted by the days. You cause all the voices of the cowpen to flow: your single chariot has rolled hither.

3

You, Mitra-Varuṇa, both Kings, have firmly established the earth and the sky. You caused the cows to flow, the plants to flourish, and with swift drops sent down the rain.

4

May your well-harnessed horses carry you hither: may they come with reins drawn tight. A covering cloud of sacred oil attends you, and your streams flow to us from days gone by.

5

To make the light wider and more famous, guarding the sacred grass with reverence, You, Mitra-Varuṇa, firm, strong, awe-inspiring, sit on a throne amidst offerings.

6

With hands that shed no blood, guarding the pious, whom, Varuṇa, you save amid offerings. You two, together, Kings of willing spirits, uphold dominion based on thousands of pillars.

7

Adorned with gold, its columns are made of iron. In heaven it shines like a whip for horses; Or established on a field deep-spoiled and fertile. May we share the meal that fills your chariot seat.

8

You mount your chariot gold-hued at dawn, and iron-pillared as the Sun sets, And from that place, O Varuṇa and Mitra, behold infinity and limitation.

9

Bountiful guardians of the world! The shelter that is impenetrable, strongest, flawless, Help us with that, O Varuṇa and Mitra, and when we long to win, may we be victorious.
