1

I REVERENTLY WORSHIP AGNI, the gracious one: may he sit here and share our offering equally. As with spoils I bring my offerings: I turn rightward, swelling the praises for the Maruts.

2

The Maruts, yes, the Rudras, who have mounted their famous spotted deer and swift-moving cars— Before you, fierce ones! Woods bend in fear: Earth, even the mountains, tremble at your approach.

3

Though vast and tall, the mountain is terrified, the height of heaven is shaken by your roar. When, armed with spears, you play and rush together, like waters, Maruts, like rivers flowing.

4

Like young suitors, sons of wealthy homes, they have adorned their bodies with golden nature. Strong on their cars, the noble ones, for glory, have set their splendor on their forms forever.

5

None is oldest, none the youngest, yet as brothers they have grown to happiness. May your Father Rudra, young and dexterous, and Prishni, pouring much milk, bring fair days to the Maruts.

6

Whether, O blessed Maruts, you dwell in the highest, middlemost, or lowest heaven, Notice the sacrifice we offer, you and your Rudra, and you, Agni, from the highest.

7

O Maruts, Lords of all, when Agni and you drive down from the highest heaven along the heights, Shaking all, rejoicing, slayers of the foe, give riches to the Soma presser.

8

O Agni, with the Maruts as they gleam and sing, gathered in a group, drink the Soma juice with joy; With these, the living ones who cleanse and further all, joined with your banner, O Vaiśvānara, from olden times.
