1

Great praise to Indra, the mighty and strong among the warriors, I ponder thus, the weak to the Strong, Who with your company shows favor to this people, when praised, in battle where spoils are gathered.

2

Made attentive by our hymns, steer! Indra! You fastened the reins of your swift horses, Which, Maghavan, at your command you drive here. With these subdue for us the foes who hate us.

3

They did not turn to us, Indra! While still lacking prayer, they stood unshod. Ascend this chariot, whose hand wields thunder, and draw the reins, O Lord of noble horses.

4

You, because many praises are yours, O Indra, were active in the fields for cattle. For Surya in his own home, you, Hero, formed even a Dasa's nature in battles.

5

We are yours, Indra; we are all these people, aware of might, whose chariots move. Some hero comes to us, O Strong as Ahi, beautiful in war, to be invoked like Bhaga.

6

Much desired strength is in you, Indra: the Immortal dances forth his heroic deeds. Such, Lord of Treasures, give us splendid riches. I praise the Friend's gift, his whose wealth is mighty.

7

Thus favor us, O Indra, with your aid; Hero, protect the bards who sing your praises. Be friendly in the fray to those who offer the skin of beautiful and well-pressed Soma.

8

And these ten steeds that Trasadasyu gives me, the gold-rich chief, the son of Purukutsa, Will resplendent in their brightness carry me. Gayrikshita willed it and so I came here.

9

And these, as sacrificial gifts bestowed, the powerful tawny steeds of Marutasva; And thousands that kind Cyavatana gave me, abundantly bestowed for my adornment.

10

And these commended horses, bright and active, by Dhvanya son of Laksmana presented, Came unto me, as cows into the Rishi Samvarana's stall, with riches of magnitude.
