At grand ceremonies, mortals honor him the Immortal, the best at sacrifice among men.

May he take their gifts to heaven, all honor Agni, the God, With his ladle that distills oil.

Agni shone brightly when born, with light slaying the Dasyus and darkness: He found the Cows, the Waters, the Sun.

Worship Agni, the Adorable One, the Sage whose back is oiled: Let him come near, and answer my call.

They have exalted Agni, the God of all men, with oil and hymns Of praise, devout and eloquent.
