How shall we offer together to Agni, to Vaiśvānara the generous?

Great light, with full growth has he raised, and, like a pillar, upholds the roof.

Do not blame him who, both God and self-reliant, bestowed this bounty upon me, a mortal— Deathless, discerning, wise, to me the simple, Vaiśvānara, most manly, youthful Agni.

Sharp-pointed, powerful, strong, of boundless vigor, Agni who knows the lofty hymn, As the lost cow's track, the doubly Mighty—He revealed to me this hidden knowledge.

May he, with sharp teeth, the generous Giver, Agni, consume with flames of fierce glow. Those who disregard Varuṇa’s commands and the steadfast laws of Mitra, dear.

Like young women without brothers, wandering, like ladies who hate their lords, They who are sinful, untrue, unfaithful, have created this deep abyss.

To me, weak and innocent, you, luminous Agni, gave this Pṛṣṭha hymn, profound and strong, Of seven elements, and with offerings, as a heavy burden.

May our song, purified by wisdom, reach in an instant him the Universal, Established on the height, on earth’s best station, above the grassy skin of Pṛśni.

Of this my speech, what shall I say more? They point to the milk stored secretly When they open the cows' stalls. The Bird guards earth’s best and beloved station.

This is the Great Ones’ mighty appearance which the radiant Cow followed from old. This, shining brightly in the place of Order, swift, hastening in secret, she discovered.

He who, with his parents, together shone, Pṛśni’s fair and secret treasure, Which, in the Mother Cow’s loftiest station, the Bull’s tongue, bent forward, tasted.

With reverence I declare the Law, O Agni; what is, comes by thy order, Jātavedas. Of this, whatever it is, thou art the Sovereign, indeed, all the wealth that is in earth or heaven.

What is our wealth from this, and what our treasure? Tell us, O Jātavedas, for thou knowest, What is our best course in
