1

THE chariot not crafted for horses or reins, three-wheeled, worthy of praise, circles the heavens. That is your Deity's great proclamation, that, O wise ones, you uphold the earth and sky.

2

You wise ones who fashioned the rolling chariot from your mind, by thought, the one that never strays, You, being so, to drink of this libation, you, O Vājas, and you wise ones, we invoke.

3

You Vājas, wise ones, reaching far, among the gods this was your glorious declaration, In that your ancient parents, grown old, you restored to youth, making them move at will.

4

You made the single chalice fourfold, and by your wisdom brought the cow forth from the hide. So swiftly, among the gods, you gained eternal life. Vājas and wise ones, your great work must be praised.

5

Wealth from the wise ones is most renowned, that which the heroes, famous for vigor, have created. In assemblies sing the chariot Vibhvan made: that which you favor, gods, is celebrated among men.

6

The horse is strong, the man a wise speaker, the bowman a hero hard to defeat in battle, Much wealth and manly might he has acquired whom Vāja, Vibhvan, wise ones have looked upon kindly.

7

To you has been assigned the fairest adornment, the song of praise: Vājas and wise ones, joy in it; For you have lore and wisdom and poetic skill: as such, with this prayer we call on you to come.

8

According to our hearts' desires may you, who know all the pleasures of men, Fashion for us, O wise ones, power and splendid wealth, rich in high courage, excellent, and vital strength.

9

Bestow upon us here riches and offspring, here fashion fame fitting for heroes. Grant us splendid wealth, O wise ones, that we may surpass others in renown.
