1

Drink this Soma, Indra, Lord of Soma; drink the noonday draught which thou dost love. Puff your cheeks, impetuous, generous Giver, here release your two bay horses and rejoice.

2

Drink pure, mixed with meal and milk, O Indra; we have poured the Soma for thy joy. With the band of Maruts fulfill the prayer, and with the Rudras, drink until you are satisfied.

3

Those who gave you strength and vigor; the Maruts singing your might, O Indra. Drink, fair of cheek, whose hand wields thunder, with Rudras bound, at our noon libation.

4

Those, the Maruts who were there, stirring the created strength of Indra with their song. By them urged to action, they reached Vṛtra’s vitals, though he thought none could harm him.

5

Pleased, like a man, with our libation, Indra, drink, for enduring hero might, the Soma. Lord of Bays, moved by sacrifice, come hither; you stir floods and waters with the Swift Ones.

6

When you released the streams to race like runners in the swift contest, after striking Vṛtra With your flying weapon, O Indra, and, godless, kept the Goddesses surrounded.

7

Reverently let us worship mighty Indra, great and sublime, eternal, ever-present, Whose greatness the dear world-halves have not measured, nor conceived the might of him the Holy.

8

Many are Indra’s noble deeds, and none of all the Gods transgress his laws. He upholds this earth and sky, and, marvel-maker, he created the Sun and Dawn.

9

Here, O Guileless One, is thy true greatness, that as soon as born thou drinketh up the Soma. Days cannot check thy mighty power, nor nights, Indra, nor months, nor autumns.

10

As soon as thou wast born in highest heaven, thou drinketh Soma to delight, Indra; And when thou hadst spread earth and sky, thou wast the first supporter of the singer.

11

Thou, mighty God, more powerful, slew. Ahi showing his strength when crouched around the waters. The heavens themselves could not reach thy might when with one hip of thine the earth was darkened.

12

Sacrifice, Indra, made thee so mighty
