1

Duly ignited according to ancient customs, bringing all treasures, he is anointed with oils— Flame-haired, oiled, the purifying Agni, skilled in good rites, to bring the Gods for worship.

2

As you, O Agni, skilled Jātavedas, have sacrificed as Priest of Earth and Heaven, So with this offering bring the Gods, and may this sacrifice prosper today as it did for Manu.

3

You have three times of life, O Jātavedas, and the three mornings are your births, O Agni. With these, knowing them, grant the Gods' kind favor, and help in both ease and hardship the one who worships.

4

Agni, most bright and fair, honored with song, indeed the adorable, O Jātavedas. Thee, envoy, messenger, bearer of offerings, the Gods have made the center of eternal life.

5

That Priest before you, more skillful in worship, established long ago, a healer by nature— After his custom, offer, you who know, and place our sacrifice where the Gods may partake in it.
