AGNI is the priest, the great high priest of the sacrifice, swift in action: He knows the ritual in constant practice.

Oblation-carrier, immortal, well-disposed, eager messenger, Agni comes close to us with the thought.

Banner of sacrifice from ancient times, Agni well knows with his thoughts To help this man achieve his goal and hope.

Agni, illustrious from long ago, the Son of Strength who knows all life, The Gods have made him their priest.

Unerring is Agni, he who leads the clans of men, A swift chariot and always new.

Strength of the Gods that no one can harm, subduing all his enemies, Agni is the mightiest in fame.

By offering sacred food to him, the mortal worshipper gains a home. A place from him whose light makes pure.

8

From Agni, through our hymns, may we gain all things that bring happiness, Singers of him who knows all life.

9

O Agni, in our deeds of might may we obtain all precious things: All the Gods are centered in you.
