The flame of Vadhryasva’s Agni is auspicious, its guidance is good, and its visits are pleasant. When Sumitra and his people first light it, with butter poured upon it, it crackles and shines brightly.
Butter is what makes Vadhryasva’s Agni strong; it is its food, and it makes it fat. It spreads far and wide when butter has been offered to it, shining like the Sun after being balmed with streams of butter.

Accept this offering, Agni, whom Vadhryasva before entreated and enkindled. Guard our homes and hearth, protect our bodies, and protect us, O Agni, which you have granted.

You are the teeming cow, O Jātavedas, who pours her ceaseless flow, Sabardhuk. You are lit by men enriched with reward, O Agni, by the pious-hearted Sumitras.
Even Immortal Gods, O Jātavedas, Vadhryasva’s kin, have declared your grandeur. When human tribes drew near with supplication, you conquered with men you had strengthened.
Like a father bears his son, O Agni, Vadhryasva bore you in his lap and served you. You, Youngest God, enjoying your fuel, vanquished those of old, though they were mighty.
Vadhryasva’s Agni vanquishes his foes with heroes who pressed the Soma. Lord of bright rays, you burn up the battle,
