Far is that secret name by which, in fear, the worlds invoke you and you give strength. You place the earth and sky close together, and Maghavan, make your brothers’ children bright.

Great is that secret name, far-reaching, by which you made all that is and shall be. The Five Tribes that love well have entered the light they loved, the one that was made before.

You filled the sky and earth and all between them, five times seven gods in their proper seasons. With forty-three lights you look around you, lights of one color though their paths are varied.

As the first among the lights, O Dawn, you shine, by which you brought forth the Stay of Increase. Great are you, unmatched in your Asura nature, who, high above, are kin to those below.

The old has woken the young Moon from his sleep, who circles with many around him. See the high wisdom of the gods in its greatness: he who died yesterday lives today.

Strong is the Red Bird in his might, great hero, who from old has had no nest to dwell in. What he knows is truth and never idle; he wins and gives the wealth desired by many.

Through these, the Thunderer gained strong manly vigor, through whom he grew in might to strike down Vṛtra— Those who through Indra’s operation came forth as gods in the law and order.

All-powerful, performing works with his companion, All-marking, rapid victor, Curse-averting, The hero grows after drinking Soma, blows far from heaven the Dasyus with his weapon.
