1

Agni, radiant among men, slays the devouring fiend, bright ruler in your own home.

2

You spring up when well worshipped, with drops of butter as your joy; when ladies come near to you.

3

Honored with gifts, you shine afar, Agni adorable with song: the dripping ladle greases your face.

4

Agni with honey in your mouth, honored with gifts, balmed with oil, radiant in your wealth of light.

5

Praised by our hymns, you kindle yourself for the gods, mortals call on you as such.

6

To that Immortal Agni, pay worship with oil, you mortals—Lord of the house, none deceives.

7

O Agni, burn the Rākṣasas with your unconquerable flame; shine guardian of Eternal Law.

8

So, Agni, with your glowing face, burn fiercely against the female fiends; shining among Uruksayas.

9

Uruksayas have kindled you, Oblation-bearer, you, among mankind. Best Worshipper among humans.
