Come, let us seek glory to Indra: he will guide us with greater care. Will he not grant us perfect knowledge of this wealth, of cattle?
I fly to him, the Wealth-giver, invisible, as a falcon flies to its cherished nest, With finest hymns of praise, honoring Indra, whom they invoke in battle.
Among his hosts, he ties the bowstring; he drives cattle from whatever foe pleases: Gathering great stores of riches, Indra, do not trade with us, most mighty one.
You slew the wealthy Dasyu, alone but with your helpers, Indra! Far from the floor of heaven, the ancient riteless ones fled to destruction.
Fighting with pious worshippers, the riteless turned and fled, Indra! with faces averted. When you, fierce Lord of the Bay Steeds, the Stayer, blew from earth and sky the godless.
They met in battle the army of the blameless; then the Navagvas exerted all their power. Like castrated men contending with men, they fled, conscious, by steep paths from Indra, scattered.
Whether they weep or laugh, you have overthrown them, O Indra, at the sky’s extreme limit. The Dasyu you burned from heaven, and welcomed the prayer of him who offers Soma and praises you.
Adorned with their array of gold and jewels, they cover the earth with a covering veil. Although they hastened, they did not overcome Indra: his spies he surrounds with the Sun of dawn.
As you enjoy heaven and earth, O Indra, surrounded by your greatness on every side, So you with priests have blown away the Dasyu, and those who worship with those who worship.
Those who crossed the earth’s utmost limit did not subdue the Wealth-bestower with their charms: Indra, the Bull, made his ally the thunder, and with its light milked cows from darkness.
The waters flowed according to their nature; he raided the navigable streams, grew mighty. Then Indra, with his spirit concentrated, struck him forever with his strongest weapon.
Indra broke through Ilībiśa’s strong castles, and Śuṣṇa with his horn he cut to pieces: You, Maghavan, for all his might and swiftness, slew your fighting foe with your thunder. 13
